Shannon McManus, MA, NCC

Psychotherapist

I believe that personal growth begins with intention. What do you want to be different in your life? How do you want to feel differently? My passion is helping individuals and couples explore their challenges in a judgment-free, safe, and supportive environment. I guide clients through examining the thoughts and feelings that arise from difficult relationships, adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and life transitions. These experiences often bring old wounds to the surface, offering a powerful opportunity for meaningful change. Together, we’ll uncover the patterns and processes that may be keeping you stuck and explore healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Regardless of past mistakes, I believe that everyone has the ability to live a fulfilled and purposeful life. I am committed to helping clients cultivate deeper emotional connections, heal from past wounds, and embrace their fullest potential. Alongside my clinical expertise, I bring a holistic perspective to health and well-being. As a certified yoga teacher and holder of a Nutrition and Healthy Living certificate from Cornell University, I honor the mind-body connection in my work. By integrating physical wellness, mindfulness, and mental health, I guide clients toward a balanced, sustainable approach to healing.

I earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University where I honed my skills as integrative therapist, drawing upon psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed behavioral and cognitive methods, neuroscience, human development, dialectics, family systems, and attachment science. I have completed advanced training in evidence based practices including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Method Level I & II, and Internal Family Systems.

Compassion and flexibility are at the heart of my approach. I’m here to support you on your journey of growth and transformation, offering empathy, insight, and encouragement every step of the way.

I am under the supervision of Carrie Gensler, LPC, CPCS, and Direction of Kristen Faircloth, LPC.
