Liza Sweeting, M.Ed, NCC

I  specialize in the full landscape of women's lives - from the physical and emotional shifts of the perinatal period, to eating and body image struggles at any age, to the complexity of love and partnership.

My work is holistic, grounded, and authentic. I draw from Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic practices - which means we work with both your mind and your body, not just what is happening on the surface. That somatic attunement is something I have gathered after a decade of teaching Pilates. A practice that continues to inform how I understand the body and what it holds. I tend to be directive when that is what is needed. Therapy with me is not about sitting in silence waiting for breakthroughs but it is a collaborative, active process.

I hold a Masters of Education in Clinical Counseling from Vanderbilt University, where I contributed to research on popular psychological assessment tools including the GAD-7, MBTI, PSS-SR5, Zung Depression, and Zung Anxiety scales. I am currently working toward my doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Georgia, researching motherhood. I am currently under the supervision of Carrie Gensler, LPC and direction of Kristen Faircloth, LPC.

I believe that healing happens when we slow down, get honest, and tend to the whole person. If that resonates, I would love to hear from you.
